Mr. Billy F. Rea was the CEO of West Texas Insurance Exchange, Inc. He was involved in the insurance business since 1962. After graduating from the University of Texas-EI Paso with a degree in Business Administration, Bill Rea started a scratch insurance agency in Odessa, Texas with a partner. One year later, he went to work for an insurance agency in Kermit, Texas and later purchased that agency. That agency was known as The Kermit Insurance Agency.
In 1974, with an eye for growth, he purchased an agency in Odessa, Texas. In 1975, he moved to Odessa to operate the agency. These agencies became Bill Rea Insurance Associates, Inc. The business continued to grow, and in 1976, The Kermit Insurance Agency was sold but later repurchased by Bill Rea Insurance Associates, Inc. In 1989, Bill Rea Insurance Associates, Inc. purchased West Texas Insurance Exchange of Midland, and in 1994, all branches were incorporated under the current name of West Texas Insurance Exchange, Inc.
Bill held a property and casualty license, risk manager license, life and health license, and security license.
Bill received honors throughout his career, including being a Million Dollar Round Table Life Producer, serving on Agent Advisory Councils for several insurance companies, being Director of the Chamber of Commerce in Kermit and Odessa, as well as being appointed by the Board of Governors of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors as a Certified Insurance Counselor in 1985. He was initiated into the Odessa Chamber of Commerce Businessman Hall of Fame by the State of Texas House of Representatives in 2003. Bill also participated in several civic organizations during his career.
Bill was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Odessa, Texas.
